Your rights in the event of a delayed or cancelled Condor flight
The laws of Europe and the United Kingdom protect your rights as an airline passenger if you were on a Condor flight that was cancelled or delayed. You may be entitled to up to £520 in compensation in the event that your Condor flight is cancelled, in addition to a full ticket refund.
Was your Condor flight delayed? If your flight was delayed for a minimum of 3 hours, you might be able to claim compensation.
Was your Condor flight cancelled? You are entitled to a refund if you decided against taking the airline's alternative flight. Furthermore, if your flight was cancelled with less than 14 days left until departure, you could qualify for Condor flight compensation.
Regardless of the cause of the flight delay, airlines must provide passengers with special assistance, or the "right to care," as mandated by law. Vouchers can be used for communication, food and drink, hotel and transportation. You can pick up the vouchers at the airline service counter at the airport. If the service desk staff won't give you the vouchers, buy what you need nevertheless because the airline is required by law to reimburse your expenses (so long as they are reasonable).
If your flight was cancelled or delayed due to an "extraordinary circumstance," you are not eligible for flight compensation. The airline must be solely to blame for the flight's disruption in order for passengers to receive compensation.
I am travelling outside of the UK/EU with Condor. Am I still eligible for compensation?
When you fly with Condor, your rights as an air passenger are protected under EU Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004, also known as EU261. It states that you may be entitled to flight compensation if your flight is delayed or cancelled.
Were you flying with Condor from or to the UK? In that case, your rights are additionally protected by the 'The Air Passenger Rights and Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019'. It's a British version of EU261, enacted following Brexit.
You can still claim compensation if you were flying to a non-EU country. Condor is an airline headquartered in Germany and therefore in the European Union. Because of this, EU261 applies to all delayed and cancelled Condor flights.
However, it’s worth noting that the situation might be different if you were flying with a non-EU/non-UK airline. See the table below for details.
Type of flight | Example | Compensation |
---|---|---|
Flying with a British carrier | Tokyo to London with British Airways | Yes |
Flying with a EU carrier | Amsterdam to London with KLM | Yes |
Flying with a non-UK/non-EU carrier from the UK | London to Tokyo with Japan Airlines | Yes |
Flying with a non-UK/non-EU carrier to the UK | Tokyo to London with Japan Airlines | No |

Condor missed connection flight due to delay or cancellation
If you booked your reservations for both flights at the same time and the delay or cancellation fits the requirements, you might be eligible for compensation and/or a ticket refund under UK/EU air passenger rights legislation.
Condor is offering me a travel voucher instead of a refund — should I accept it?
We do not recommend agreeing on a travel voucher instead of a refund. The two reasons are as follows:
Accepting a travel voucher obligates you to fly with the same airline in the future. Furthermore, the airline usually assigns a time limit to use the voucher
If the airline declares bankruptcy, you might no longer be able to convert your voucher into a cash refund — in other words; your money will be lost.
Condor overbooked flight — get a refund, compensation and extra care
Overbooking is a common occurrence among airlines. They frequently sell more tickets than there are seats on the plane, and if they can't find enough volunteers to give up their reservations, people may be denied boarding against their will.

Extraordinary circumstances — can Condor deny me compensation?
We call extraordinary circumstances situations in which the delay or cancellation is not the airline's fault. If any of the below apply to your Condor flight delay or cancellation, you might not be entitled to flight compensation.
Bad weather conditions, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
However, you should be aware that airlines sometimes claim that extraordinary circumstances occurred when they actually did not! They do so in hope that they can avoid paying out flight compensation to passengers.
