How much compensation can I get for a delayed or cancelled Algeria flight?
Since Algeria is not part of Europe, therefore you can only be eligible for Algeria delayed or cancelled flight compensation if your flight departed from Europe and/or was with a European airline. It is only possible to get delayed or cancelled flight compensation if your flight was delayed by more than 3 hours upon arrival or if the cancellation of your Algeria flight was announced less than 14 days before departure. Note that the airline must also be responsible for the flight disruption.
The amount of compensation for flight delays and cancellation in Algeria depends on the distance of your flight:
Distance of your flight | Compensation |
---|---|
Flights shorter than 1,500 km | Get £220 per passenger |
Flight between 1,500 and 3,500 km | Get £350 per passenger |
Flights of over 1,500 kilometres within the EU | Get £350 per passenger |
Flights of over 3,500 kilometres outside of the EU | Get £520 per passenger |
Keep in mind that if your flight is delayed or cancelled, the airline owes you special assistance called the 'right to care'. This includes food and beverage vouchers, communication, transportation and if needed hotels. You can claim those vouchers directly at the airline’s service desk at the airport. If the airline doesn’t provide you with vouchers, you can buy what you need and keep the receipts — the airline will have to reimburse you.

If your Algeria flight was delayed, you could be entitled to flight compensation under the EU regulations. Be careful, as Algeria is not part of Europe, you can only claim flight compensation for flights leaving from a European airport and/or operated by a European airline.
Moreover, Algeria delayed flight compensation depends on:
The length of the delay: your Algeria must have arrived to destination with more than 3 hours of delay
The responsibility of the airline: you can only claim Algeria flight compensation if the airline was responsible for the delay. Extraordinary circumstances like extreme weather or strikes at the airport exempt the airline from providing compensation to passengers.
The compensation amount varies depending on the flight distance: the longer your flight, the higher the compensation.

You are only entitled to claim compensation if your flight meet the following conditions:

Ask for the refund of your flight from Algeria
If your flight to Algeria has been cancelled, you have the right to a refund of your ticket. The airline should offer you the choice between a refund or an alternative flight to your destination. If the airline didn’t offer you an alternative flight, you will still be entitled to a full ticket refund.
Voucher or refund? Here’s what you should know
If your flight to Algeria was cancelled and the airline has offered you a voucher, it's important to know that you are not obligated to accept it. You have the right to choose between a voucher or a cash refund, as per your preference.
However, we recommend you to choose the refund option instead of the voucher, here is why:
Vouchers often come with a list of limitations, including the airline, a time limit, or even the destination.
If you choose a voucher, you lose your right to claim compensation.
If the airline goes bankrupt, it will be extremely difficult for you to get your money back.
Am I also entitled to flight compensation if I’m flying from Algeria to the UK/EU?

In some cases, airlines may claim that the delay or cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances beyond their control. These circumstances may include severe weather, political unrest, or strikes. A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
