Ryanair considering allowing dogs on-board

Monday, October 5, 2015

Until now, pet owners had only a few choices when planning a holiday: Either putting their beloved pooch in a kennel, leaving it with friends or staying home. This is about to change. You might be able to enjoy a holiday in the sun with your favourite four legged friend.

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair is considering allowing pets onboard its aircrafts on short-haul flights. This is a big change as the airline has so far maintained a strict “no pet” policy.

According to chief commercial officer David O'Brien: "We are open to lots of suggestions, it's one we're looking at." This is part of the airline’s plan to improve its image to “cheap and cheerful”. Ryanair would be amongst the only airlines to offer this pet service onboard. A spokesperson for Ryanair stated: 'Allowing dogs on planes is one of a number of proposals we are looking at under our Always Getting Better programme.”
