Norwegian Air Shuttle stands steadfast
Tuesday, July 26, 2016
UK: Europe’s 3rd largest airline Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced that it is yet to be affected by the UK’s decision not to remain a member of the European Union.
The airline, which has a large base at London Gatwick, is the 3rd largest by passenger numbers. Norwegian has stated that, despite the economic uncertainty that currently surrounds the UK, bookings remain unaffected.
In fact, the airline reported a rise in numbers of passengers travelling from the US to the UK. This is due to the pound slumping against the dollar, prompting Americans to take advantage of the value in the pound.
British-based airlines such as British Airways and easyJet have reacted differently than some foreign operators and have issued a profit warning going forward.
A representative from the Norwegian airline is refusing to start panicking, Bjorn Kjos said, “So far we haven't seen it. The simple fact is that most people have already purchased their summer vacation so it might happen next year that it will be lower demand from UK side.”
