The rise of the druken pilot

Friday, August 26, 2016

Frankfurt: A visibly drunk pilot arrived at Frankfurt airport willing to fly a plane filled with more than 270 passengers.

The SriLankan Airlines pilot was immediately suspended from duty after failing a breathalyzer test before the flight was due to depart.

The news comes after a series of incidents this year involving drunk pilots.

The Airbus A330 was then left without a pilot causing a 15 hour delay until a replacement pilot could be found the following day.

The airline, which is experiencing financial difficulty, apologised on its website for the disruption caused.

The route to and from Frankfurt is one of many European destinations that the cash strapped airline is discontinuing from October 2016.
