Mercy for Marmite

Tuesday, August 1, 2017

<p>On the 31st of July, London City airport introduced a temporary exculpation for passengers travelling with Marmite in their hand luggage. These bottles typically surpass the allowed 100ml restriction and are therefore confiscated. As one of the most seized items at airport security, London City then offered passengers the chance to substitute their banned Marmite for a scaled-down 70g version. According to a study, approximately 12.5% of UK passengers have had to relinquish an item they had in their hand luggage as this didn&rsquo;t comply with aviation or immigration guidelines. Melanie Burnley, Director of customer experience at London City, states: &ldquo; The Marmite swap is a temporary but popular addition which means that whether you love it or hate it, you&rsquo;ll still be able to get your Marmite fix when travelling from this airport. For any other liquid or gel items above 100ml, it&rsquo;s best to pack them safely in the hold luggage&rdquo;.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><table align="center" border="2" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" style="width: 500px;"> <thead> <tr> <th scope="col"><em>Top 10 most confiscated articles at London City</em></th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>1) Snow globes</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2) Jams and spreads</td> </tr> <tr> <td>3) Toiletries</td> </tr> <tr> <td>4) Chutneys and pickles</td> </tr> <tr> <td>5) Olive oils</td> </tr> <tr> <td>6) Wine</td> </tr> <tr> <td>7) Spirits</td> </tr> <tr> <td>8) Marmite</td> </tr> <tr> <td>9) Nutella</td> </tr> <tr> <td>10) Furry handcuffs</td> </tr> </tbody> </table><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
